you guys can use any dishsoap/liquid soap so long as it's gentle and doesn't have a crapton of additives. I'd reccomend trying something like liquid castille soap.

I have a pure bred chiwawa & a pit/elk hound mix. Since we've had them they have had the worst trouble with skin irritation, dry skin and bumps. I've take them to the vet over and over; changed their diet and shampoo; they are both on Comfortis (the flea pill). Nothing was helping and their coats were an absolute wreck. They scratched constantly, to the point they would bleed. I thought it was hopeless till I found your site. After trying your shampoo I will never go back to store brands! In one washing the itching stopped & their coats look better than I've ever seen them! Thank you so much for posting this it's changed my pups lives and given me a little peace of mind!

Thanks to this site. I have changed up the recipe. I use 7th Generation Lavendar Mint dish detergent instead of the Ivory. I find it to work the best with a very inticing linger of the scent for days after. I have made it with white vinegar and with applecider vinegar, and found the applecider works the best. Do not skimp on the glycerine -an absolute must. We show our Samoyeds and since I changed to this recipe all I get is ravingly positive remarks from fellow Samoyed breeders and judges on the coat of my boys and girls. Bright white, shimmering, and luxurious in texture. As a note: Prior to me making my own shampoo I have spent literally hundereds of dollars on expensive dog shampoos of which some have brought me nothing but trouble.

This shampoo was amazing for my 100lb+ lab mix. I wasn't too fond of the smell of the shampoo at first but now that my dog is dry he just smells like the ivory. His coat is super soft and so shiney! Thanks for such a great tip, no more stinky dog smell, he's almost like a walking air freshener! :-)
